My Story

I've been dealing with tummy troubles my whole life. As a child I was diagnosed with IBS and at about 18 I diagnosed myself with lactose intolerance after noticing I could no longer enjoy milk, ice cream, and most cheese. Just this year I decided my life needed a change and I started working out religiously and eating really healthy. LOTS of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and protein supplements. Great right? Not for me. I felt HORRIBLE and was confused as to why the healthier I ate, the worse I felt. After months of doctor visits, food journals, and blood tests I found out that I have Fructose Malabsorption and gluten, lactose, and chicken intolerance. And now all of my symptoms finally make sense. Although it feels good to better understand my body, that's only half the battle. Now I am challenged daily with what I can and can't eat, so I started this blog as a place to sort out my thoughts and collect recipes.

  2. Hi Jess, I have been following a similar diet to yourself for the last 2 years. I have found the Monash University app to be very helpful. Hope it might be of help to you & your fellow readers. Chris :)

  3. I'm not sure if you're still blogging or not, but I'm wondering if you can recommend a medical professional in the Fort Collins area that understands FODMAPs and would order the ALCAT test. Hope you're well. :)
